Tech Sales is a business-to-business (B2B) transaction of technology solutions from a provider to an organization. In Tech Sales, you’re selling to business executives. These sales typically happen at the executive level because of the perceived risk and enormous expense involved.

The tech industry is in the top 5 highest paying industries for recent graduates but only 1.3% African American and 3.3% Latin X are employed in the industry.

An SDR is an entry-level role where you experience your initial exposure to tech. These individuals are responsible for setting up qualified meetings with prospects for their Account Executives. Their core responsibilities are researching target accounts, cold calling, outbound email campaigns, inbound demo requests, and scheduling meetings. The salary range for this role is $60K – 100K in OTE (on-target earnings – OTE).
These are the closers of the business. An AE has the ability to take a prospect and convert them into a client, also known as winning business. Once they meet with a prospect, they now own the rest of the process to get them to close. The salary range for this role is $100K – $500K in OTE
SDR Managers are middle management employees that help guide the direction of the outreach and assists with the strategy of driving more leads. They typically work very closely with the marketing team to make sure they are getting the right quality and quantity of leads. The salary range for this role is $80K – 150K.
Sales Managers manage the Account Executives. This role ensures that AE’s are trained properly and have the right quantity of leads in their respective territory. Sales Managers also offer assistance with closing complex deals with the AE. The salary range for this role is $100K – $250k.
The Sales Director, VP of Sales, Head of Sales, or Chief Revenue Officer builds the revenue strategy for the business. Constructing compensation plans, creating territory mapping for representatives, purchases resources for the team, and manages the planning for the upcoming years, i.e. forecasting, headcount, etc… The salary range for this role is $150K – $500k
